This week we’re highlighting a Community Operations Coordinator II/RHS position (Posting 7536). Some of the duties of the position include providing administrative leadership for the following specialized areas: Conferences, Neighborhood and Engagement Center Initiatives, Cash Handling, Hiring and Training. Senior Community Operations Coordinators are responsible for operational administrative functions for the neighborhood engagement center, university partners and/or designated communities. Community Operations Coordinators II/RHS also have overall administrative leadership and support for a residence hall or apartment complex; recruits, hires. This position trains, supervises and evaluates student team members who work at the Guest Service Centers; provides residence hall tours, works in the Business Office, works with the Safety and Service Center Administrator, and provides service for the Summer operations; reports to the community director. Residence Education and Housing Services team members are committed to the following principles: 1) student learning, engagement and development through the neighborhood model, 2) intercultural learning and inclusion, 3) restorative justice principles and 4) sustainable practices. They understand and appreciate the fact that they are the primary custodians of the Residence Education and Housing Services brand and work in a culture of accountability to ensure that the brand is strengthened through daily actions.

Some of the duties of the position include providing administrative support to the Senior Associate Dean, faculty and administrative staff of the Office of Affairs and Development; assisting with the oversight and processing of reappointment, promotion, and tenure forms and reports for the College; scheduling and arranging seminars, meetings, and on- and off-campus conferences; compiling information for databases and generating reports; interpreting information and assisting in the basic operational function of the unit; preparing, editing and updating presentations; attending meetings and taking minutes; maintaining faculty, directors and unit calendars; making travel arrangements, preparing travel authorization and reimbursement; voucher processing; and other duties as assigned. The position will be required to travel to Grand Rapids at least one to two days per week.

The position also will: create and verify accounting information reports; account reconciliation; create and run numerous accounting/budget reports; act as a fiscal officer and will create disbursement vouchers; approve invoices/requisitions/purchase order amendments; schedule meetings; perform various other duties, including supervising two full-time employees and two students; serve as an Administrative Assistant to the Office of Engineering and Architectural Services at MSU Infrastructure Planning and Facilities; collect, interpret, analyze, and audit construction documentation; maintain the records of departmental projects, functions, or events; conduct research on assigned projects/events and for the development of new projects; assist in monitoring contracts and agreements in order to ensure that provisions are met; assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures.
