Parking During Football Season
The annual Friday night game is coming up to begin this year’s Spartan football season. MSU Police is doing the best they can to accommodate MSU faculty and staff when it comes to parking on campus for these games. MSU Police asks for your cooperation on the following game days:

K9 Training with MSU Police
Whether it’s searching for a suspect or leaping over hurdles, it’s all a game for police dogs. Officer Gary Heckman explained that the dogs are trained for police purposes, but every exercise they do results in reward, such as a lacrosse ball, once the task is complete. All police dogs come from Europe where they’ve been trained by professionals before they arrive at their destination to train with their new handler. The most common breeds are German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois. Dogs come as early as a year old and their careers can last for at least 10 years or more, depending on the individual dog. Some of the job duties for this position include collecting, preparing, and analyzing a variety of financial reports; assisting departments with accounting procedures and concerns and maintaining the financial reporting system; preparing year-end accrual adjustments and year-end closing entries for the preparation of audited financial statements; reviewing and auditing departmental financial reports for accuracy and validity; preparing and analyzing data for completing surveys with other schools and institutions; and compiling, verifying and analyzing data in order to assist in the preparation, publication and review of audited financial statements and reports.

Author Katherine Boo To Visit for 2012’s One Book, One Community
This year’s One Book, One Community author may only have one book under her belt, but she’s got plenty of background and experience to make for an interesting and thought-provoking program this year.
Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Katherine Boo is a current writer for The New Yorker and a former reporter and editor for The Washington Post. Her book, Behind the Beautiful Forevers, chronicles the three years she spent in an Indian slum known as Annawadi, located in the shadows of luxury hotels near the Mumbai airport. Being firm means maintaining accountability. Have respectful and direct discussions about a problem in order to give proper feedback about your expectations.
