RecycleMania is an annual eight-week recycling competition between more than 600 colleges and universities across the United States. This year, Michigan State University is competing in two divisions, Grand Champion and Gorilla prize, and needs your help to win!

Fun Friday Tasty Trivia!

We know you have been pining for a new contest,  so for this week we have teamed up with Eat at State to bring you some tasty trivia! Below are a set of five multiple choice questions taken from the Eat at State website.  Track down the answers and email your best guesses to hrcommteam@hr.msu.edu before the end of the day on Monday for a chance to win a free meal pass, valid at any on-campus dining hall, along with other Eat at State goodies. Environmental Tips for the Winter Season

With the help from Be Spartan Green, we’ve put together a video of environmental tips for this cold winter season. Here are some of the following ways you can save money and energy this season and help protect our environment, especially when you’ll be leaving the office for holiday breaks.

Top Tips:

-Turn off all unneeded electronic equipment. Unplug all electronics or turn off the surge protector so they don’t use stand-by energy.

-Use plug control equipment such as the Smart Strip available at University Stores.

-Take the time to clean out and defrost refrigerators and freezers to make them more energy efficient.

-Dial down thermostats, especially at night and when you aren’t there. Dress in layers to feel warmer wherever you go.

-Laboratories should keep fume hood sashes closed for energy saving and safety reasons.

On a typical afternoon at the Forest Akers driving range, you’ll see golfers of all ages. Children, college students, adults and seniors…everyone seems to know how to pick up a club and swing away!

If you’re looking to practice your swing, head on over to the driving range located at the Forest Akers East course. Think it’s too cold for golf? Forest Akers has you covered! In 2009, Forest Akers opened its all-weather driving range. The facility is the first of its kind in mid-Michigan and offers 18 stalls for golfers to practice comfortably all year long.
