Some of the job duties for this position include managing the fiscal and administrative activities of the unit; serving as unit research administrator, overseeing grant submissions, monitoring awards/budgets and preparing financial reports; administering large, multi-investigator, million-dollar Program Project consortium grant awards, which requires managing multi-institutional subcontract awards and attending annual scientific meetings; administering unit’s general fund budget; and approving expenditures for the unit. Libraries and IT Services Training has partnered with the East Lansing New Horizons training location to offer a reduced-cost Custom Microsoft Technical Club Membership for MSU staff. This membership enables participants to attend any Microsoft Technical Class listed on the East Lansing New Horizons training schedule.

This week we’re highlighting an Office Assistant III position in Advancement Marketing and Communication (Posting #6898). Some of the job duties for this position include determining propriety of gifts to be acknowledged; performing daily download reports of gifts in order to prepare gift acknowledgment letters on behalf of the MSU president; providing critical analysis and research in the examination of donors’ giving history with downloaded gifts and with gifts appearing in giving history but not in the download; researching gift batch detail to determine if correction batches or gift modifications must be made; and determining proper use of donor salutation based on both the salutation options in Advance and prior letters.

Don’t forget – tomorrow is the last day to enroll in voluntary vision insurance and group legal services! Open enrollment for these two employee-paid benefits ends on Friday, October 19. To enroll, visit www.MSUBenefitsPlus.com. You will need to create an account with the MSU Benefits Plus site to enroll in any of the new programs.
And then, on Monday, October 29, 2012, an open enrollment period for Critical Illness Insurance begins. Critical Illness open enrollment runs during the same time period as FSA Open Enrollment, October 29 through November 12, 2012. To enroll in Critical Illness Insurance, you will need to visit the MetLife website at www.mybenefits.metlife.com.
