Did you know that National Bosses Day was Sunday, October 16? In honor of Bosses Day, the Family Resource Center (FRC) acknowledged four outstanding supervisors at MSU by presenting them with the 2011 Outstanding Supervisor Award! The Outstanding Supervisor Award was established by FRC in 2001 to draw attention to MSU supervisors who are highly regarded by their employees for their consistent support of the work/life needs of their employees. The nominees and nominators represent a wide variety of departments and position levels.
This year’s winners are:
- Amy Blair, Distance Learning Services – Main Library
- Dr. Steve Bolin, DCPAH
- Kent Cassella, University Relations
- John Thelen, Controller’s Office
The winners were selected based on testimony from their employees’ nomination letters. These winners display a high level of excellence as work/life sensitive leaders. These supervisors know that the productivity, quality of work and morale in the department are enhanced because they understand their staffs have lives outside of work. The nominators indicated that longevity and dedication in the department, and their loyalty to MSU are a direct result of their supervisors’ positive attitude, integrity, sensitivity, empowering leadership style and sense of humor. They all claim to have the “Best Boss” on campus. All of the nominees received certificates of nomination and letters of congratulations, along with surprise parties in their offices with balloons, cakes and gifts.
