In spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday, we asked MSU faculty, staff and students what they were truly thankful for. Here is what they had to say:
Spring Eisenzimmer, senior, Hospitality Business major, Akers Forest Golf Shop associate: “I’m thankful for my friends and experiences these past four years in the Spartan Marching band.”
Cindy Brink, Kellogg Center Gift Shop employee, was happy and thankful for her job.
Arista May, senior, Family Community Services major: “I’m thankful for my sisters and how great they have been to me.”
Chuck Hill, West Circle/Brody Neighborhoods maintenance worker: “I am thankful for all the relationships in life that God has given me. Life is all about relationships—it is what is most important.”
Arjanai Washington, freshman, Pre-Nursing major, works at Sparty’s: “I’m thankful for my family and them being supportive of me and for my education to make my future better… Having the mindset to do better for myself.”
Jennifer Battle, Director of Campus Sustainability: “I’m thankful to have a job that I enjoy going to each day. I work with amazing people across campus and believe that the work I do makes a difference.” On a more personal note she said, “I’m thankful for having a wonderful family that loves and supports me!”
Danielle Devoss, Professor of Professional Writing, Director of Digital Humanities, Convener of Creativity Exploratory: “One of the things I’m most thankful for is the opportunity to work, on a daily basis, with engaged, smart undergraduate students.“
Leah Short, senior, Psychology major, President of Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Team, was thankful for “so many things.” She is most grateful “to have the opportunity to be here because of my parents. Without this education I would have never found my passion.”
Sharon Butler, Assistant Vice President of Human Resources: “I’m thankful for the opportunity to return to Michigan so that I can love on and spoil my twin grandchildren. Thank you MSU…Spartans Will!”
So, MSU, stop for a moment and reflect on what you are most thankful for. And have a happy Thanksgiving break!
