It’s Thankful Thursday and, after yesterday’s heavy snowfall, we want to thank each and every Physical Plant Division employee involved in snow removal at MSU.  You make life so much easier, safer and better for all of the faculty, staff, students and community members who work, study, live and visit on MSU’s campus during the snowy days of winter.  Thank you for your tireless around-the-clock efforts that keep MSU running!

One way we can thank MSU’s hardworking snow removal teams is by doing everything we can to avoid making their jobs any harder!  Here’s three simple ways we can all help MSU snow removal teams keep campus safe and clear:

1. Snow-removal equipment is large, loud and difficult to stop; so please avoid darting out in front of or behind such equipment. Also, make eye contact with a snow-removal driver before crossing the street in front of them to make sure both parties are aware of the other’s presence.

2. Avoid parking so close to the sidewalk that your car’s front or rear bumper hangs over the walk. This creates an obstacle for snow-removal equipment and extends the amount of time required to clear that section.

3. Avoid chaining bikes to signs. Not only is doing so illegal on campus, but it also creates obstacles for snow-removal equipment.
