Mentoring: A Win-Win-Win Way to Go!

Mentoring is a win-win-win situation. Why? Because it helps a mentee grow in their position and unit, it helps a mentor develop leadership and supervisory skills and it helps the University strengthen the skill sets and knowledge of its employees.

The M.E.N.T.O.R.S. (Mentoring Enhances Networking, Teaching, Organizational Renewal and Success) program has been in place for about six years. It was formed through a recommendation by the Women’s Advisory Committee for Finance and Operations (WACFO) to offer increased exposure to leadership positions on campus. The program is open to any MSU faculty and staff members. The program has been a great success, with over 160 participants since its inception.

To learn more about M.E.N.T.O.R.S., I sat down with Edita Herbstova, program coordinator, as well as one of the initial mentor-mentee pairs, Corinne Reardon and Krista Smith, to discuss the program and their experiences.

Visit the M.E.N.T.O.R.S. program web page to learn more or fill out an application to be a mentor or mentee!
