Job of the Week 1/18/13

This week we’re highlighting a Human Resources Analyst position in Employee Relations (Posting #7265). Some of the job duties for this position include serving as an internal consultant to management staff to provide advice, direction and leadership regarding contract interpretation, labor relations, grievance/arbitration hearings, and disciplinary/discharge decisions; conducting investigations, researching case law and representing the University in a wide variety of forums (i.e., unemployment compensation, grievance and arbitration, negotiations, and other administrative processes to support the resolution of litigation against the University); and developing and presenting training programs for internal and external audiences.

This week we’re highlighting an Office Assistant III position in the Office of Admissions (Posting #7233). Some of the job duties for this position include providing operational and processing support for several applicant groups at different times in the recruitment cycle based on workload; entering and processing complex and diverse data in the Student Information System (SIS); processing forms for freshman, transfer, graduate and international applicants; analyzing data in order to make decisions, resolve problems or request specific actions; verifying information and making judgments to ensure that records are correct; and interacting with University personnel, Admissions staff members and students.

How Do I Recognize Email Fraud?

Phishing:  The practice of using fraudulent emails and copies of legitimate websites to extract financial data from computer users for purposes of identity theft.

Fraudulent emails are constantly floating around and many can affect those with MSU NetIDs, but they can easily be avoided by knowing what to look for.
